Before unrolling

Do not unroll the mat until it has been kept at a room temperature of 60°F or higher for no less than 24 hours. Forcing a cold mat to unroll may permanently damage the foam and vinyl coating.

Room temperature affects protection

Mat shock-absorbency performs best when room temperature is between 68°F and 72°F.

If room temperature exceeds 78°F, additional padding may be necessary to meet the minimum shock-absorbency standards of ASTM F355, the test method for shock-absorbing properties of playing surface systems and materials. For information on ASTM standards, visit www.astm.org.

Understanding your mat's construction

Each Resilite mat is custom manufactured. Some mats are made as one-piece mats; others are manufactured in multiple sections that must be taped together before use.

How to read the edge markings: At one end of each section, the order number, the date, and a letter are written on the mat edge — for example, 119999 6/02 B. To align sections correctly, always match the letters on each mat edge: "A" to "A" and "B" to "B."

Step 1 — Unroll each section

Once each mat is fully unrolled, pump air underneath the mat by shaking it up and down. This lets the mat slide easily across the floor surface.

Step 2 — Set the center section first

Start with the center section. If the mat is a Horizontal Cut mat, position the center section parallel to the scoring table. Pump air underneath and straighten the center section.

Then unroll the remaining section(s), matching the edge letters correctly.

Step 3 — Match the lines

Align the mat so that the BOTTOM of the large circle lines match.

It may be necessary to shift the far end of the mat right or left. Do this by lifting the edge of the mat and pumping air underneath to "float" the mat on air, then push or pull the section(s) until the circle lines match.

Step 4 — Tape the sections together

WARNING: Never use a mat that is not properly taped together. Serious injury or death may result.

Always use mat tape to fasten sections together tightly.
Apply tape to the mat surface. Do not apply tape to areas of exposed foam.
Use tape sold or supplied by Resilite. Other tapes may have more aggressive adhesives that cause mat edges to deteriorate more rapidly.
Not taping your mat will void your warranty.

Maintaining the tape

Mat sections may move during use. Check the mat periodically during use to confirm it remains properly and securely taped.

Remove and replace mat tape at least once a month. If tape remains on the surface for an extended period, it can bond permanently to the mat and cause surface damage or peeling.

Tape adhesive can be removed with Goo Gone®, mineral spirits, or Simple Green® cleaner.

Referee and starting line placement

Referee and starting lines are positioned with one line aligned along the center of the mat and the other line extending (dropping) 10 inches away in the direction of the scoring table.

Resilite places the red marking on the right and the green marking on the left, as if you are standing with your back to the scoring table, with the scoring table positioned at the bottom (south end) of the mat.

Supervision requirement

WARNING: This mat should only be used under the supervision of trained and qualified instructors and coaches. The instructor or coach is responsible for warning the athlete of the dangers associated with each physical activity performed on the mat
