How to Paint or touch a Painted Resi-lock Mat.

How to touch up or paint your resi-lock mat. Step-by-Step on how to repair or touch up.

 Repair Paint on Resi-lock Mat

  • Paint
  • Solvent
  • Heavy Duty Scouring Pad
  • Tape
  • Paint Brush
  • Clean Rag

  1. Using a utility knife, cut back loose paint until you get to where the paint is well attached to the zip connection system
  2. Scrub the area with the scouring pad.
  3. Using damp cloth, gently wipe over the area to be repaired. This will remove dirt and contaminates. Let dry before going onto the next step.
  4. Apply masking tape at least 1” away from the break on both sides of the break. Press the edges of the tape firmly to be certain new paint will not leak under the tape.
  5. Open the paint can and stir for about 30 seconds.
  6. Apply solvent. With a rag wrapped over the tip of your finger cover the opening to the solvent can and tip to soak the rag. Don’t soak to the point the rag is dripping. Then lightly wipe the wet rag over the unpainted area. That activation will get the old paint ready to accept and absorb the new paint so they have a strong bond.
  7. Go ahead and brush on the first coat soon after you apply the solvent. Then let dry for 20 minutes. Then come back with a second coat directly onto the first. You don’t need to activate the first coat as it is fresh enough not to need the solvent. If you think a 3rd coat should be applied go right ahead and put it on.
  8. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then pull the tape. Try to let it sit overnight. But, you can actually step onto the new paint within 2 hours but overnight is best.
  9. There will be an unevenness between the new layers of paint and the old surface. You don’t have to try to get it level. That will smooth out with use.
